La Liga: Sevilla v Real Madrid preview and tips

Undoubtedly the game of the weekend in Spain’s La Liga takes place in Sevilla as they play hosts to Real Madrid at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán. With Barcelona out in Japan taking part in the FIFA World Club Cup, Real have the chance to reclaim their spot at the top of the league table and put behind them the 3-1 defeat by their bitter rivals last weekend. They couldn’t have asked for a much tougher task though leading up to the short winter break. Sevilla lie in fifth position but have began the season well. Their defence is strong with goalkeeper Javi Varas establishing himself as one of the best shot-stoppers in La Liga, and players like Fernando Navarro and Jose Caceres give them a strong base in front of him. Their defence has, in fact, shipped less goals than Madrid, but at the other end, they come no near Jose Mourinho’s side
